Life, with here a smile, with there a tear, Relentless river.

       生命，在這是微笑，彼方是淚水，無情如逝水。

Moves from day to day, from year to year,

       日復一日，年復一年，

Nor lingers ever.

       不曾徘徊。

 

Love up on its banks imploring stands

       愛如同河岸對逝水的

In anguish calling,

       痛苦呼喚，

Stands with yearning eyes and outstretched hands

       在那有懷念的眼睛和張開的雙臂

And soft tears falling.

       以及落下的溫柔淚水。

 

Life, thy ways are long, thy end is dark,

       長路漫漫，盡頭黑暗，

And we, unknowing.

       而我們一切未知。

Whence it was we came, or why embark,

       何處是我們歸處，該做什麼，

Or wither going.

       該往何處。

 

Live and love awhile,

       生命就是愛，

And pray at last

       期待最後

To reep our sowing.

       我們豐收的到來。
